In the wake of battling the military fascism that governed Ethiopia during the 1970s and 1980s, the Ti gray People's Liberation Front, or T.P.L.F., arose as the head of the alliance that took power in the nation in 1991. The alliance, known as the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front, comprised of four primary ideological groups, generally split along ethnic and geographic lines, and it supported a federalist approach that gave huge capacity to Ethiopia's districts.
